Ryan McGinnis has spent his career going deeper than the bottle. He takes bartenders and food-and-beverage professionals to the source — walking the agave fields, the palenques, the cane, and the stills behind the spirits he represents.

He's known across the industry for his depth of spirit knowledge and his love of teaching — categories, history, craft — freely and generously. A genuinely fun, easygoing guy who just wants to see hospitality professionals win.

Ryan walks bartenders through the town of Tequila and onto the grounds of Fortaleza — the tahona, the copper stills of Los Abuelos, the estate agave — so they see, firsthand, how great tequila is truly made.

At the Verás palenque, agave roasts in earthen pits and a horse-drawn tahona crushes it by stone. Clay-pot distillation, wild yeast, no shortcuts — the oldest way to make a spirit, shown the way it should be.
